Every day, the world population increases causing more and more resources to be consumed. As an initiative from SUNRISE, we have notes in all our rooms pointing out to our guests the amount of water and detergents consumed on daily basis in the washing process. Our housekeeping does not change the sheets or towels unless the guests place them on the floor, only then, our staff knows they need to have them changed so we can avoid unnecessary consumption of resources.
All our Open Buffet Restaurants have a “Love Food - Hate Waste” sign placed on the entrance with the amount of food wasted the day before and how many people this amount could have fed, raising awareness against wasting food and motivating people to consume suitable portions at a time.
Because we understand that plastic does not get decomposed and in order to get rid of it, it has to go through a process that harms the environment, we minimized the usage of plastic as much as possible in our properties and we're opting out for better alternatives such as the Acrylic Cups and Bamboo Straws.
Something that doesn't have a past will definitely not have a future; that's why we make sure to protect the authentic African heritage at Kwanza in every possible way in both materialistic and semantic things. All our cups, centerpieces and other means of decoration are bought locally, crafted by the hands of the Zanzibar's manhood. Moreover, our guests can get to know more about the Tanzanian whereabouts at The Cave Restaurant, the lime jungle stone that's also a sacred place for locals and Maasai. It's packed with unique portrays of bones, stones, ceramics and valuable artifacts that they won't see elsewhere. Our guests can embark on both singing & drumming lessons as well as cooking lessons at The Cave where they learn how to cook authentic Zanzibari dishes and at night, we host local artists to perform traditional Swahili notes.
